Shadows in the Sand Delay

Hey everyone,

Just to update so no one thinks I’m dead, I’m in the midst of Final’s week and I leave the UK in 6 days so I’m a little bit stressed. Also, to top it all off I’m sick (-﹏-。) Another cold
It’s around that time of the year where my body shuts down a few times, so I’m pretty gross looking right now and tired a lot. I hope you’ll understand the delays. I’ll try to have the chapter up soon, but just in case, I wanted to keep those who follow this updated.

New Project in the Works – Yuri on ice!

While I’m updating Shadows in the sand, I’m going to be working on a Yuri on Ice fic! I’ve been stewing on this for a while but the raws from this week’s episode pushed me over the edge. The plot I have so far is kinda hazy, it’s still in development, but I think it’ll be a reincarnation fic, Yuri and Viktor will be in high school, amd Viktor will be his upperclassmen. Super excited to write for the fandom because…

I’m dead.

I’M GOING TO EGYPT!

YEAH.

YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY.

I’M GOING TO EGYPT IN TWO WEEKS!

Excuse me while I just go into a corner and scream my head off. This is HUGE. My two best friends recently had the opportunity to go see Cairo, and after we got to talking, we decided to meet there and share a hotel together! We’ll be traveling to the pyramids on a camel like a distinguished adventurer, and I’ll be lead around on this tour by a REAL archaeologist. We’re also going to see the Sphinx as well as The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities (NEJI, WATCH OUT.)tumblr_mrr0h9ddye1rag6z6o1_500
I. Can’t. Wait.

I’m confident that this will help Shadows in the Sand TREMENDOUSLY, and I am SO excited to be able to see the place that I’m writing about IN THE FLESH.
Now someone hand me my fedora and bullwhip, please.

Slow brain. (๑ᵕ⌓ᵕ̤)

gay Still working on Shadows in the Sand.

I’ve been sick on and off lately, planning trips to different places in Europe on the weekends, so I’ve kind of been pushing myself unnecessarily.

Rant ahead

Let me start by saying that I am not the “club-type”. I’m the indoor type of gal who enjoys ransacking my friends food and curling up next to them with a good TV show or a video game to scream at. However, since acclimating to London, I’ve been wanting to try something new, step out of my comfort zone. If I can traverse Italy by myself, surely the world of clubbing can’t be too scary, right?

Insert internal screaming.

The British sure can drink.  I’m such a light weight compared to them, I struggled to keep up the entire night, but it really was a good time. I danced in a really, dare I say, sexy red dress, and went through my first experience of being creeped on by several guys. American accents draw a lot of attention, and when I say I’m from Chicago eyeballs pop out of skulls. It’s all quite funny and flustering… well……

………. until a person’s hand is on your butt. (ಠ_ಠ)

Anyways, thankfully I had people around who helped me out when I was clearly in dire need of assistance. Still, the entire ordeal was exhausting, I’ve been doing a lot of work for school lately, so as I’m writing this chapter my eyes are just…. closing and opening and closing and opening…and ah…. another fight scene…. punch, kick… punch…. sleep….

ZzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzz….

I also think I’m getting a cold.

Blegh.

British Museum – Egypt

I thought I’d post some incredible pictures I took of the British Museum on 9/15/16.

I visited the Ancient Egyptian gallery for research purposes (and for pleasure, because c’mon, the place is HUGE) and was amazed by the collection. They truly have a spread, if you will, of artifacts. I was grinning like an idiot the entire walk-through.

I felt sort of awkward taking pictures of the mummies? When I was a little kid I’d gawk at them with gross enthusiasm. “Dead bodies! WOOOW. FLESH AND EVERYTHING.”
But now that I’m an adult, all I feel is morbid respect for them, and this looming foreboding. Soon, we too will just be bones and rotting flesh. Again, really depressing.
It’s just strange to look at them and remember that they were people, with lives, probably not much different than our own. They did trivial things, and cracked jokes, and had families. I still feel a little guilty, to be honest, but I’m also glad I got to see them and commemorate the occasion.

If you’re ever in London, please take advantage of museums being free. I spent three hours in the British Museum and didn’t even get close to seeing a quarter of what was there. Don’t expect to see everything in a day, that’s for sure. It was truly an experience. I’ll be going there again over the course of my stay, so expect future gushing.

Break over – Time to get back to Sands

14364893_1327605817252029_7887952529469381452_nJust an update! Hello everyone (if anyone reads this thing) I’m back! I’ve officially settled in the UK, started my classes, and began life abroad. I spent about a month prior to my classes traveling, though the first week I arrived in the UK I had become extremely ill and was out of commission until I recovered. I’m pretty sure it was because my body was not used to traveling for so long in a plane.

Since I’ve arrived, I have seen Rome, Naples, Venice, and the city of Pompeii. These were separate excursions I’d planned for a long time, and if anyone is interested in hearing more regarding the trip, I would LOVE to share it on this blog. I might even write a few posts regarding my travels in the future, so if you’re into that sorta thing, stay tuned! I plan to go skiing in Switzerland during the winter months, and to go to Paris and Poland in the next few months on weekends.

Anyways, regarding Shadows in the Sand, I’ve started on the next chapter and it should be out within the next week. wp-1471369732849.jpg

I hope you guys didn’t mind the wait. I just solely wanted to focus on seeing these new sights and taking in the culture, so I stayed away from my computer for a while.

(The picture on the right is the levitating Sasuke scene from Chapter 8. Theatrical Placenta ALSO drew this for me while I was snickering while writing it. I look at it when I feel disheartened. The chaos gives me strength. lolol)

Shadows in the Sand Chapter 9 going up in 3 hours!

And… an announcement!

I leave for the UK in a few days! (If you’re reading this W.L I’ll respond to your email promptly! I’ve just been hectically getting ready.)

I hope to get some awesome research done at the British Museum down there, as they have one of the largest Egyptian collections outside of Egypt. Updates might be spotty for just a month or two, as my time clock will be off and I’ll be trying to get acclimated to living there til the end of my abroad studies, but I hope you’ll all be patient with me! Traveling to another country, assimilating with the culture and learning new things has always been my goal, so this is very exciting for me! A dream come true, admittedly, and I’m eager to use what I see abroad in future stories.

Keep your fingers crossed that I don’t wind up getting lost? I’m directionally challenged.
